Problem
Kiosk24 sells from automated kiosks around the clock. Customers can also order through delivery platforms like Wolt. The brand's own app had to be good enough that people would choose it.
Structure
- 01Map
- 02Products
- 03Order
- 04Pickup
The app is organized around three questions: where is the nearest kiosk, what can I get, and is my order ready? That became the home screen architecture: map, products, order, pickup.
Decisions
1 Location first.
Kiosks are physical, so finding one is the first job. The map uses the phone's location to sort kiosks by distance, on OpenStreetMap, and every kiosk has a photo of the real spot so people recognise it before they get there.

Designed for the moment you stand in front of one: QR code, order number, status and how to pick up.

Inspired by Wolt's live overlay, one widget holds the delivery time, a shortcut to delivery info and the pickup QR code. Hard to build inside a webview, but it worked well in the end.

What shipped
A redesigned UI for most screens, the product listing with similar products, a map with geolocation and a photo of every kiosk location, pickup confirmation, the live widget, page transitions with Swup.js, and error screens with error handling. Built with Laravel/Blade, jQuery and Bootstrap, with Playwright tests for the geolocation flows; backend by Armin. The app is on the App Store (opens in a new tab) and Google Play (opens in a new tab).
I also designed the App Store posters and the static Instagram posts (see Kiosk24 social), and shot and edited the 14-second promo reel (opens in a new tab), which also plays on the Open Solutions website.
