Ortho Balance

An AI assistant that gives a first assessment and points patients to an exam.

The Ortho Balance website with the AI assistant panel open on the right: a greeting in Croatian, four starter chips and an input row, over the page's hero about personalised orthopedic insoles.

Problem

People looking for orthopedic insoles often don't know what they need, and staff can't answer every question by phone. The assistant had to help without pretending to diagnose.

02

Structure

  1. 01Describe the problem
  2. 02First assessment
  3. 03Not a diagnosis
  4. 04Call to book an exam

One narrow path: describe the problem, get a first assessment, see that it is not a medical diagnosis, then call for an exam. Questions outside that path are meant to be declined or steered back to orthopedic insoles.

Decisions

  1. 1 Narrow on purpose.

It assesses and routes; it never diagnoses. In health, trust beats cleverness. Four starter chips (heel pain, flat feet, knee pain, bunion) keep people on the path from the first tap.

  2. 2 The disclaimer is always on screen.

“Not a medical diagnosis” sits directly under the input for the whole conversation, with the call to book an exam beside it. It is part of the interface, not fine print on another page.

Bottom of the chat panel: a message input with a send button, and under it the permanent line Nije medicinska dijagnoza · Naručite pregled.

  3. 3 Every path ends in a next step.

The panel footer always offers the call button (“Naručite pregled”, book an exam). The same assistant also runs inline on the diagnostics page, where the disclaimer sits under the button.

The inline AI assistant card on the diagnostics page: the same four starter chips, a symptoms text box, a green Analiziraj simptome button and a note that this is not a medical diagnosis.

What shipped

The chat panel on the live site, which answers in Croatian, and the inline version on the diagnostics page, plus test scenarios. Any recording uses test data only, never a real patient.
